This Month at The Paros Foundation – May 2026

Help Us Keep the Torfavan Kindergarten
Open for Local Families

The Torfavan Kindergarten currently serves 30 children from the villages of Torfavan, but the facility is at risk of closure due to the lack of a separate bedroom required under Armenian kindergarten regulations. Completing this expansion project and installing proper heating are essential in keeping the kindergarten open and continuing to serve the local families.

Completing the expansion and installing a heating system will immediately provide the kindergarten with a dedicated sleeping area and a warmer, more comfortable environment for children and staff. These improvements will allow the kindergarten to continue operating while providing local families with reliable access to early childhood education and care close to home.

A properly functioning and heated kindergarten will help children build strong educational and social foundations while supporting the long-term stability and growth of the community.

Meds Masrik Kindergarten Expansion Continues

Construction on the expansion has now been completed, marking an exciting milestone for the project. Renovation work on the kitchen building is also nearing completion, and we are looking forward to celebrating the official opening soon. This progress brings us one step closer to creating an improved and welcoming space for the community to enjoy.

Sari Gat Expands With Donation

Sari Gat, in Nerkin Karmir Aghbyur, was able to expand its production and distribution, grow its staff, and purchase more local milk from nearby dairy farmers thanks to the generous support of Jean-Marie & Lori Atamian. This investment created a meaningful economic boost for the village, supporting local families and strengthening the community’s long-term sustainability. Thank you to the Atamian Family for their donation!

Nourishing Armenia Keeps Inspiring

One of the students at Debi Arach Children’s Center who helps out with the Nourishing Armenia Greenhouse was so inspired by the program that she decided to create a mini greenhouse of her own at home! Moments like this show the true impact of the program, not only teaching students about growing food, but inspiring curiosity, creativity, and a lasting connection to sustainability and learning. July 2 – July 23, 2026 | Ages 17-22

Participants implement several projects, including helping renovate village school classrooms and distributing humanitarian and educational supplies in rural communities.

Visit historic and religious sites such as Lake Sevan, the Mother See of the Armenian Church at Etchmiadzin, Garni, Geghard, Khor Virab, Noravank, and more! Additionally, an overnight trip will be organized to Armenia’s second largest city, Gyumri.

The group will live, work, tour, and play together, creating a lasting bonding experience. Participants will be able to enjoy several meals at many excellent Yerevan restaurants during planned group dinners, and/or prepare meals for themselves during the trip.

Participant Requirements Have Been Updated!

In addition, each participant is required to fundraise a minimum of $3,000 in donations prior to the start of the SERVICE Armenia 2026 trip. Participants may choose one of the following initiatives to support through their fundraising efforts:

  • Debi Arach Children’s Center Food Program
  • Humanitarian Aid for the Debi Arach Children’s Center (including backpacks, school supplies, winter coats and boots, shoes, and groceries for families in need)
  • Paros Housing, After-School & Vocational Center Project
  • Paros Chamber Choir
  • The Paros Foundation’s Operational Support

Participants are also asked to download, complete, and return the Fundraising Plan Form to The Paros Foundation, outlining their intended fundraising activities and goals.

Construction on the Paros Housing, After-School and
Vocational Center building is entering its next phase

With the building’s structural reinforcement complete, work now focuses on the roof and interior. With a little luck and your continued support, this complex will be completed and occupied by year’s end! If you are visiting Armenia and would like a tour of the building please let us know!

Nourishing Armenia Continuing Education

As part of her work with Nourishing Armenia, Stephanie Sudjian, ran a Continuing Medical Education course for Doctors and Nurses in Yerevan. More than 30 enthusiastic local healthcare professionals attended to learn about Nutrition and its relation to maternity health. In addition, Stephanie met with elderly members of the Association of Healthcare and Assistance to Older People in Yerevan to discuss healthy diets and their relation to elder issues.

2nd ArmHOF Wrestling Competion

The second Armenian Sports Hall of Fame interschool wrestling competition was a huge success! This year, 116 children from across the Tavush region, traveling from as far as Ijevan, came together in Berd to compete, nearly doubling participation from our first event. It’s inspiring to see the program grow, bringing more young athletes together.

New Computers Needed

At Debi Arach Children’s Center, students are excited to learn and explore, but computers that are a decade old hinder this experience. Technology plays such an important role in education today, and with the right tools, these kids can keep growing, creating, and building their futures. Applications Available for SERVICE Armenia 2026 Program

Los Angeles, CA, May 1, 2026 – The Paros Foundation is excited to announce the launch of its SERVICE Armenia 2026 program, inviting young adults from around the U.S. to participate in impactful volunteer projects throughout Armenia this summer. The initiative continues the Foundation’s commitment to fostering meaningful connections and positive change within Armenian communities.

SERVICE Armenia 2026 offers participants the opportunity to engage in hands-on humanitarian activities, including community development, education support, and environmental projects. Through these experiences, volunteers will not only contribute to Armenia’s progress but also gain valuable leadership skills and a deeper understanding of the country’s rich culture and heritage.

The program is open to individuals ages 17 to 22 and will run from July 2 to July 23, 2026. Participants will work alongside local partners and community members to address pressing needs, build lasting friendships, and inspire future civic engagement. The Paros Foundation provides logistical support, mentorship, and cultural immersion activities to ensure a rewarding and safe experience for all involved.

“We believe SERVICE Armenia empowers youth to become agents of change while strengthening the bonds between the global Armenian diaspora and Armenia itself,” said Peter Abajian, Executive Director of the Paros Foundation. “We look forward to welcoming a new generation of volunteers eager to make a positive impact.”
