Torfavan Kindergarten Expansion
Description
For families in the village of Torfavan, the local kindergarten plays an important role in providing young children with a place to learn, grow, and prepare for school. Currently, 30 children attend the kindergarten in the Torfavan settlement of the Vardenis consolidated community.
Built in 2022, the kindergarten currently operates with only one shared room for both classroom activities and sleeping. Armenian kindergarten regulations require separate spaces for play and rest, placing the kindergarten at risk of closure without additional space.
An expansion project to add a separate bedroom was previously started by another organization, but was left incomplete. The Paros Foundation will now continue the project by adding an additional room where children can sleep and installing a heating system for the building to help ensure the kindergarten can remain open and provide children with a safe and comfortable learning environment year-round.

The Need
The Torfavan Kindergarten currently serves 30 children from the villages of Torfavan, but the facility is at risk of closure due to the lack of a separate bedroom required under Armenian kindergarten regulations. Completing this expansion project and installing proper heating are essential to keep the kindergarten open so it can continue to serve the local families.
Short Term Impact
Completing the expansion and installing a heating system will immediately provide the kindergarten with a dedicated sleeping area and a warmer, more comfortable environment for children and staff. These improvements will allow the kindergarten to continue operating while providing local families with reliable access to early childhood education and care close to home.
Long Term Impact
The long-term impact of this project will be continued access to quality early childhood education for families in the region. A properly functioning and heated kindergarten will help children build strong educational and social foundations while supporting the long-term stability and growth of the community.
